POLYBRON 685

TWO-COMPONENTS SOLVENT FREE POLYURETHANE

DESIGNATION

POLYBRON 685 Two-component non solvented polyurethane resin, hardening by mixing and reaction to polyol and isocyanates. Manual version.

APPLICATION Indoor and outdoor rehabilitation and waterproofing.
LOCALIZATION
  • Waterproofing for circulated or non circulated areas.
  • Lining of structures in contact with food stuff or liquids.
  • Anti-corrosion of all metallic surfaces.
  • Anti-abrasion coating.
  • Ferrous substrates, in country, city , marine and industrial environments.
SUBSTRATES Applications on various substrates :Wood, concrete, cement, steel, plastic...
PROPERTIES
  • POLYBRON 685has been specifically designed for manual use. Its application is therefore especially recommended especially on small surfaces (below 500 m²). Beyond 500 m², the machine version, POLYBRON 386, will be preferable.
  • Thanks to the absence of solvent, the hardening of the POLYBRON resin has a low shrinkage effect. The adhesion is improved by using POLYBRON primers.
  • Very high permeability to water and vapour transmission.
  • Outstanding resistance to abrasion, corrosion and weathering.
  • Excellent resistance to numerous chemical acid and basic agents.
  • Good resistance to organic solvents, mineral oils, (a guide for chemical resistance is available, please contact us if required).
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION The substrates have to be perfectly clean, dry and free from grease. They should be perfectly safe after cleaning.

The concrete substrates should preferably be sandblasted or iron filled. In any case, they must be free from cement milk, perfectly dry and stabilised.

The concrete pH must be stabilised to neutral.

APPLICATION Mix the two components with full respect of the proportions : Polyol 75% and Isocyanate 25% (weight).

A good trick for experienced users who will strictly follow these rules :

Use measure recipients : two glasses of equal capacity that will be once and for all dedicated, one to the Polyol, the other one to the Isocyanate.

Then apply the following process :

  • Pour three volumes of base in a bucket
  • Pour one volume of the hardener in this bucket
  • Thoroughly mix to get an homogeneous solution, carefully avoiding air inclusion.
  • Once the mixing is ready, the liquid obtained can immediately be applied on the substrate, with brush or roll.

The effective time of use of POLYBRON 685 is about 20 minutes at 20°C. We consider that beyond 15 minutes, the viscosity becomes too high to allow an efficient use.

  • Drying @ 20°C and Relative Humidity 65%
  • Dust free : 1 hour
  • Dry : 6 hours
  • Overcoating interval : 4 and 72 hours

Keep in mind that any rise of temperature will accelerate the hardening process. At 30°C, the effective time of use will be lower than 10 minutes. Only prepare the mixing necessary quantity.

Do not apply if hygrometry is >85%.

Minimum temperature for application : 5°C.

The surface temperature must always be 3°C over the dew point temperature, according to temperature and humidity.

  • Never dilute the products with any solvent.
  • Never modify BASE/HARDENER proportions

After polymerisation, the base can be sanded, then covered with an other coat of resin or finishing polyurethane paint (POLYBRON 705).

CLEANING SOLVENT :

  • Chlorinated solvent (trichlorethylene, dichloromethane)
  • Methylethylketone, Acetone
  • After polymerisation, do not use small equipment again.
EFFICIENCY Average consumption : about 1,3 kg/m² for 1 mm thickness.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
  • Usual precautions for storage and using liquid chemicals (gloves, glasses, safety goggles)
  • Carefully read the relevant safety data sheets.
  • - Do not eat
  • - Isocyanates can be harmful. If any contact with skin, rinse with plenty of water and soap.   See a doctor in case of persisting irritation.
  • - If any contact with eyes, immediately rinse with running water.
  • - Do not throw in sewerage system
